I stayed here three nights in December 2019 and found it really good. The room was fine, the washroom and kitchen facilities were good and the manager was very helpful. It’s also well-located on a main street very close to a transit bus exchange, near a supermarket and maybe 10 or 15 minutes’ walking distance to Hallgrímskirkja and to the central part of Reykjavik most popular with visitors. Also nearby, and maybe overlooked by some visitors, is a scenic walkway along the shoreline and, in the other direction, some charming residential side streets. Hope to stay again if I can get back to Iceland.

Ideal Accommodation for Me
101Guesthouse met all my needs. It was well located, quiet, clean and warm in December, a real blessing. 5 to 10 minutes walk to city bus lines and tour bus #12 pick up stop. Staff very accommodating. Loved having the common area with kettle, microwave and fridge. Great for frugal travelers on this pricey country. “Bonus” minimart 5 minutes walk and 24 hour minimart with coffee across the street. Toilet and shower down the hall very clean. All in all a good place for travelers with simple expectations.

Finding the location in the evening after dark was a little difficult; would not have been an issue with better instruction upon booking. Room was good size and clean. The walls are not the best insulated and it was easy to hear what was happening outside the room; especially the noisy street below. Good location, but with that comes street noise, which kept me awake later than usual for several nights. One bathroom was out of soap, another the hand dryer did not work.

I loved my stay ... it’s was at a walking distance to the church as well as downtown area and really convenient . Best part was the fact that it was right next to bus stop 10 (which if you have not rented a car is your lifeline for all bus pickups be it any day tour or airport transfers) The rooms are quite comfortable and clean and because in Iceland you spend the entire day outside there is no point in wasting money in 5 star hotels Highly recommend this
