Our stay
The stay was enjoyable and good to be in the city centre. We were given free parking by the hotel during our one night stay which made it better than expected, unfortunately the hotel’s window was dirty in our room but the hotel was clean other than that. We would return!

Reasonable no frills hotel
We booked here because it is a reasonable walking distance from the Birmingham Arena. There’s building going on nearby so it’s quite noisy in the morning. We parked at the back of the hotel in what we thought was hotel parking, but were told it was staff parking, but it was ok to park there, and we still got charged the extortionate rate of £16! We were running late due to traffic so didn’t have time to find alternative parking. As mentioned in previous reviews, the reception is at the bar, which is a bit odd, but I was glad I’d read that. You walk straight into the bar area with pool table on entry to the hotel. Staff were friendly though had to serve at the bar as well as checking people in and out. Rooms weren’t large but they were clean. The bed was ok, though pillows were thin as previously mentioned and there was a second thin pillow in a horrible brown fabric, which I suppose was more for decoration, but could be used as an extra pillow if you could bear to put you head on it! I doubt if it is changed when the sheets are changed! The bathroom was ok, though I found that the water from the shower does run into the room and soak the carpet as others have found. There was shower gel but no shower cap, and I’d forgotten to take one with me. A hairdryer & tea and coffee facilities are provided. We didn’t bother with breakfast. Cost was reasonable for Birmingham. I would stay here again if there was nowhere else available.

Good 6.0
The hotel was nice but was confused when checking in as there was no desk just a bar which was surrounded by a group of drunken men. No staff on arrival to welcome us and the whole process seemed confusing. The room was ok, abit basic for the price. Only one pillow to sleep with but generally good condition. Breakfast was disappointing and considering it is a ‘party hotel’ breakfast stopped at 10 o’clock. There was no hash browns or beans with the cooked breakfast and every other option was limited. No staff service throughout breakfast and did not feel welcomed. It was a nice hotel but we will not be staying again.

Basic Hotel
hotel has a pleasing aesthetic however dig deeper and it’s pretty basic. One room had broken tv and in room phone, the other had working electronics but had a weird food smell. The taps are bizarrely close to the edge of the sink meaning the water ran over the side and on to the floor. The toilet paper roll was down to the last few sheets so quickly had to replace with the spare, would have though they would have replaced it with a full one for new guest. Room service rubbish was left outside rooms all day so they don’t do floor walks. The plus sides; the rooms were quiet considering it is on a main road, the breakfast buffet was well presented and lots of options and late check out for free on a Sunday which is superb and the only reason I would stay again.
