Excellent hotel
Hotel location is excellent, right at the bund. Can go either to Yu Yuan Metro or East Nanjing Metro. Lots of restaurants and small eateries around.

Excellent stay but rude experience with guard
I have stayed here several times and enjoyed the experience previously. Great location, breakfast, and service within the hotel. However, this time had a very bad experience with the guard on the first floor hotel lobby on October 12. Am not sure whether he is employed by the hotel or the building. I am an Asian-American who speaks Mandarin. I dressed in jeans and a jacket; i.e. casual and typically American low key/ relaxed. I asked him whether there was a trash can to throw away some wrappers, and instead of answering, he tilted his head towards a door behind the desk. I was surprised by his response, and asked him whether he actually wanted me to go into the room behind him, but he didn't respond. I felt he was being intentionally rude to me. The doorman then interceded, and took my paper trash and disposed of it presumably in a bin behind the door. I was not dressed as a typically rich Chinese person and was not Caucasian so he must have assumed that I was not worth his time or response. I probably should have spoken to him in English instead of Mandarin to get his attention. I told him that he should treat all guests with respect even if they dress down or appear "Chinese." I know this is just one experience but it does color your experience after spending $300/night there.

Lovely view of the Bund!
In general, it was a wonderful stay - view of the Bund was fantastic; staff was friendly and approachable; room was spacious and well-equipped & maintained. The only thing which I think they could do better would be the choice and pricing of food in the coffee house. Taste was great, just that there was limited variety and it was rather pricey. Breakfast setting was cosy and the spread was good. Staff was attentive and prompt in their service.

Beautiful hotel, right on the Bund!
The rooms are really nice and big with a great view. Location is great for exploring the Bund, but the subway station is a 15 min walk so bear that in mind. Check in was smooth and staff was courteous and helpful.

Mediocre service
Hotel was okay but staff service was mediocre. Female reception staff couldn't find our reservation for a long time and when the porter wanted to carry our luggages for us she told him she had not found our reservation yet making it really embarrassing for us. Her male colleague took over our passports and found it in less than 1 second. That's when she said she found it too. Please give more training to reception staff. Room was cozy and nice. There was a glass cup on the bedside table. When I reached for my phone at night when it was dark, the glass cup fell and broke. Maybe they should not put glass cup on such a small bedside table. I was made to pay 75rmb for the broken glass. I was okay with that, as long as nobody was hurt.
