Worthwhile Historic Stay at Historic Place.
Clean for its age. This was the old citadel so the A/C infrastructure can only do so much. Outside of that....great location and great experience. Complementary drinks was nice touch for evening event.

Poor 2.0
Disappointed
We reserved a large suite for our family of 7. When we arrived, we were cramped in a room that was suited for 5. The carpet was wet from the air conditioning, the door had to be slammed to shut, it was extremely hot in one sleeping area & freezing in another. We were told that the garage height would fit our small travel carrier & to pull in...it did not. It scratched & dented the top. Because it was the Fourth of July weekend, we were stuck there, as many hotels were booked. The location was good, but other than that, our stay was disappointing.

Charleston vacay
The staff was great but the hotel needs some renovation and the room was not as clean as I expect from Hilton. Breakfast really good. Overall pleased with our stay-great spot.

Poor 2.0
Not as advertised
Place is a dump. Wallpaper falling off, electrical outlets hanging out of walls. Stained carpet and overall dated interior. Extremely dissatisfied!!!

Definitely Coming Back!!!
I am still confused as to why the review rating on this place is not higher than it is. This place is absolutely amazing! Yeah so it’s a little dated...they do an amazing job of keeping it up. As a Charleston native, I would be insulted if I chose a hotel in the HISTORIC DISTRICT of Charleston, SC and it didn’t feel like I was in an Alfred Hitchcock episode! And the best part...when we got into the quaint little one bedroom suite, we crossed the room, pulled the drapes back from the window and immediately, it was like a scene from the movie “1408” FANTASTIC!!! On a serious note, my best friend and I took my 2 teenage girls, 13 and 18. Upon arrival, a protest had been growing due to a rally from earlier that day. As tensions grew, the protest turned into a riot, and the John C Calhoun statue was brought down from its post, directly behind the hotel! My girls were able to experience history that night...and it was incredible. The hotel staff did an amazing job making us feel safe. They provided information on where we could and couldn’t go. They were always available any time day or night if we needed anything. We were pleasantly surprised the pool was open with CDC guidelines which were being followed accordingly. The Pool was left open for guests to enjoy all night long both nights we were there. It was so convenient seeing how our beach trip was cut short by rain one day. This hotel is beautiful, creepy(in a fun way) and has the perfect location! 10 minutes to IOP❤️

Good 6.0
Unfortunately the hotel was over booked so they had arranged a room at the Courtyard Marriott. Although there was no change in the cost, the room was smaller and the car parking more expensive.

Very good 8.0
A little older but good overall
This is definitely an older hotel that could use some updates. Not your typical embassy suites. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast and evening reception were not being offered due to COVID-19. Also, no housekeeping services during the stay. The pool is outdoor and no hot tub. Hotel is in a good location with walking distance to shopping and dining options. ommon areas could use some updating but nice hotel overall.

Good stay!
Good stay overall. Disappointed that the Covid-19 affected the breakfast and evening reception. Tried to get assistance with the shuttles but the front desk only responded that I needed to visit the Charleston visitors center.

One night stay
We had amazing stay here. Although short, the hotel staff we did meet were lovely and so kind. We cannot wait to come back and spend more time.

Hotel showing it’s age.
Comfortable room, but hotel is showing it’s age. Great breakfast and happy hour reception was a plus. Overall it was a nice experience, but not as nice as other Embassy Suites I’ve stayed at.
