I would like to thank you Hotel del Centro staff and manager for a fantastic stay. Love the place, the people, the town. It was great, that Aldi, where you can buy anything, is just across the street, that train station is just a few hundred meters away, and that all the palazzos and cultural monuments and unbelievable churches are within walkable distance. Planning to come back.

We stayed here for a night prior to departing from Palermo airport. Positives: friendly receptionists, good location Negatives: honestly the hotel is quite antiquated. The rooms look like they have not been refurbished in a few centuries and the hotel corridor smelled quite strongly of cigarettes. There is a charge if you would like your room cleaned every day... Air conditioning is all centrally controlled by the reception staff. TV did not work and in all honestly the bathroom was pretty poorly cleaned. Very strong odour of sewage coming from the drains in the sink and shower. Can't say that we would recommend this hotel to others.

The hotel is a charming Old World hotel with a very friendly, helpful staff (especially Salvo, who gave us great advice not only about Palermo but our later destinations). Breakfast was good, with a very nice hostess. The rooms are well appointed, with plenty of storage. Location is good, near the Centrale station, the Four Corners area, the old city, and the Mercato di Ballarò. Everything you’ll likely want to see is within a mile walk. The bathroom could have a better shower closure so as to not leak water on the floor, plus a second towel hook. The heating system is old, and they have trouble maintaining even temperatures from room to room, but all you have to do is call the front desk and they’ll adjust your room. Those are minor nits. I happily recommend the Hotel del Centro.

Good value for money, but horrible receptionist
The hotel requires you to leave the keys at the reception every time you leave the room, but sometimes there is nobody at the reception. In that situation I took the keys with me and when I came back the receptionist was angry at me because of that. We had an argument during which he started to raise his voice, then shouted at me. When I told him to lower his voice as I don’t appreciate being screamed at, he called me aggressive and became even more rude. Horrible experience. My friend came to my room one day in the morning to leave her luggage and then in the evening to pick it up - overall each time she stayed in my room about 2 minutes - the rude receptionist asked for her ID and threatened me with the police when I tried to explain she’s here only to leave and pick her luggage from my room and she was just leaving. I know people are not allowed to have guests overnight but I didn’t realised it’s not okey to have somebody over for a few minutes! I had absolutely no problem with giving my friends ID, but the receptionist talking about the police and screaming was just a bizzarre experience. The aircone in 2 rooms didn’t work - at check in I had to change the room twice! There was no desk in the room although in a description it’s clearly stated there is a desk. I needed it for work, so the receptionist brought me a coffee table to the room - I appreciated the gesture, but the coffee table was very unstable and not fit for purpose.
