Inn with a little surprise
Wasn't really expecting much when booked online, but the room surprised us. It is huge, well-maintained and clean. Not to mention that the view of Athabasca Glacier from our room is magnificent. Although there isn't much to do around the area (besides the Glacier and Skywalk), the overall experience in the Inn is still considered a good stopover, before heading to Jasper.

Convenient Access to Popular Attraction
The Glacier Inn is on the third floor of the Columbia Icefields Discovery Center. It is a good location for people who will be doing recreational activities in the park, or who want to ensure access to the glacier during peak travel periods. The rooms are large, comfortable, and have a loft which sleeps a family of four comfortably. The center gets very crowded mid-day, and there may be snow-clearing activity in the early morning or late evening hours.

Only hotel on the Columbia Icefields. But a good place even if it is the only one. The restaurant prices and cafeteria prices are atrocious. They add gratuities so don't add more even though they try to get you to. The lobby is basically hidden and you have no idea where to go when you first get there. Should be better marked.

Wonderful Columbia Icefield location and views
The hotel is part of the Icefield Centre, with reception on the ground floor (next to the icefield tours tickets area) and rooms on the top floor. Hotel services were not perfect (we had to wait to check in) but the room was spacious and in fine condition and the views over the three glaciers were superb. The centre has a cafeteria and restaurant on the middle floor, both of which were good, and made an effort to satisfy the many Chinese tourists with a chinese-style menu. Prices were a little higher than normal, but what do you expect with such a unique location and view. I suggest you make use of your stay and take the icefield tour early in the morning, before the buses from Jasper and Calgary arrive.

The Good and the Bad of Glacier View Inn
We had a nice stay at the Glacier View Inn, a repeat from 2 years ago. We learned from 2 years ago, that once you are there, you are pretty much stuck food-wise. We thought the restaurant was very expensive then for what it was, so we planned ahead and ate elsewhere before we got there, and snacked in the evening. There are no services for a car for many miles and no other available rooms close by either.
