‘Twas the night before Xmas......
Booked three nights over Christmas for a COVID-19 impacted family gathering, and as always the Realm was excellent. Reception staff were friendly and attentive, room was clean and comfortable. All staff we encountered in the three days were friendly and helpful. Service as always was top quality.

Aircon decided to work as we checked out. Room was covered in dust. No note pad or pen at the desk. No bottled water in the fridge. Had to make two request for trays to be collect - then the trays were collected at 11:30pm! Check-in provided no update on where to have our meals. I only stayed at the hotel as I had received great reviews from a friend...

Hotel is very good but the Saturday night wedding in the ballroom was so loud all over the hotel. Any guest not at the wedding was subject to that noise until the wee small hours. Not fun and no sleeping though it.

Good hotel but poor service
Hotel smells amazing, and looks good when arriving. Poor service lets it down. Firstly, my keycards didn't open my room, and I had to go back down to reception, with all my luggage, to sort it out. On the first night, I reported that 5 consecutive downlights in the hallway outside my room (at the end of the corridor) were not working, making it very dark when trying to return to my room at night. A hotel of this size should have a maintenance person on call 24hrs a day, but this was not rectified during my 3 nights' stay. Housekeeping: returned to my room around 4pm to find that my room had not yet been made up. Had to report it to reception, and whilst I had planned on having a rest, I had to instead, go and wait in the bar whilst my room was made up. For 3 days, housekeeping did not replenish the milk for the tea and coffee, and I had to keep calling reception to have housekeeping bring it to my room: waiting around for the milk, to be able to have my tea/coffee is not good enough. Dirt on the carpet in the hallways should have been vacuumed up. This hotel should have a housekeeping manager to ensure things are done better than they are. Wouldn't stay here again.
