Great place-some staff need better training
Hotel is in a very good location, close to stores, restaurants, and there is a grocery store just around the corner, which is awesome. My enjoyment was marred by the lack of professionalism from two workers: 1) I gave the bellman a 1,000-peso bill (almost $20) and told him to change it to smaller bills. He brought back 500 pesos ($10) and tried to keep the rest. He thought he had earned $10 by opening my room door form me. I hope he checks into a drug rehab program soon, because he must have smoking something pretty strong. I refused to interact with him after that. 2) When I attempted dinner at the hotel restaurant that evening, the waitress from whom I ordered appeared to have no clue as to what was on the menu. When I pointed to the menu item she then asked me if I wanted the red or white sauce. I told her white. SHE RESPONDED BY LAUGHING. YES...... LAUGHING! I had no idea as to what was so funny. I just canceled my order. I explained how unprofessional the service was to the person who acted as the manager on duty. The lady told me that this had not been the first time that worker had acted in such an unprofessional way. I then asked: "So, why is she still working here?" The MOD just shrugged. That, to me, spoke volumes about her commitment to good providing a good service.

This hotel was cozy and staff members were friendly, overall, with maybe one or two exceptions. They upgraded us to a better room when we reported that the sink was clogged. Breakfast was good daily.

Palacio...A Great Accommodation!
In trying to determine where to stay during a recent trip to the Dominican Republic I found an amazing amount of good reviews for this hotel. In fact, I appreciated my first two day stay so much, that after my return from ten days in the middle of the country I elected to again stay at Palacio. Originally I considered trying another hotel but, the comfort, service, style and convenience just redirected that decision. And again, I'm glad that I did. On top of the hotel is its location in the center of the ancient colonial city. There are plenty of tour guides to show you about, which I happily used Jesus. Still, most of my four day visit was simply walking down the streets, into a variety of buildings and the close walk to the ocean front. I'm thinking...I've found my regular Santo Domingo accommodation. The WiFi was not always the greatest and I had to frequently log back on. The couple room concerns were quickly and professionally tackled.
