I always stay here when I go to Manchester and I stayed two weeks prior from when writing this review and the two guys at reception remembered my face. I had a late checkout and they said I didn’t have to pay for it as I’m a regular

Old and Grubby
Such an old, grubby hotel. Avoid at all costs. Like stepping back in time from rooms to breakfast. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in

2/10 Poor

poor value
I hated my stay here. The bed was so uncomfortable and so soft I now have chronic back ache. I stayed in room 507. You can feel the trains shaking the room. It was so noisy. I would not stay here again. I also did not realise prior to booking that use of the sauna was an extra £15 pp per day and a max of 2hours. It was not worth £100 per night.

6/10 Good

Not a 4 star hotel
The stay started off well because last time I stayed here the check-in queue was a tedious 20 minute wait. This time there was a friendly guy greeting people as they arrived and then the check-in didn’t take long at all with another friendly gentleman. However, I had to ask to change rooms because despite having paid extra for a “suite” which it can’t really be described as (more a large corner room) I was looking train passengers directly in the eye. I was moved with no problems to a slightly higher room which was very much appreciated but I’m not sure why there are no voile curtains or similar to offer some privacy in the room (which I’m pretty sure where there last time). The room was cold - no matter what I did to turn the temp up the fan would turn off after 5-10 mins so I actually woke up cold in the night and had to put a jumper on. The pillows were also too big for the pillow cases so one of the pillows had orange makeup and remnants of mascara on - needless to say I left it on the floor and didn’t use it. Also biggest annoyance of all - I was having a weekend away to meet friends (and therefore child free), I was hoping for room service as this was available last time I stayed here and is advertised on the hotels.con page as being available. It was not. There was also no minibar. I’m not really sure how this is a 4 star hotel. I honestly wished I’d saved my money and stayed somewhere cheaper.
