Stay was okay
The hotel itself was nice. I tried finding the most affordable place to stay. The room was very squeaky although the lady at the front did say it was the oldest hotel in the city. The room also had a smell to it. They did have coffee in the morning but I wouldn’t stay here again.

My stay at the El Primero was amazing. The owners were personable, very knowledgeable about the area, and have a great story about the renovation of this beautiful building. I met people from all over who were as happy as I was with this special place.

Hotel with character
The owner was very kind and accommodating. However, the room had a strong odor of an artificial scent. I have asthma and had to run my air purifier the entire stay. My clothes ended smelling like the fake smell. I’m not the only person with these kinds of sensitivities. I highly recommend using fragrance free everything from cleaning to washing solutions. It was quiet at night. The hotel is well built and makes you feel like you’re in another time period. Furniture was worn a little but I guess that’s hard to avoid. Bed was comfy.

Loved this place!
We wanted to avoid a chain hotel and this spot exceeded our expectations. Very charming. Walking distance to restaurants. The room was cozy and clean. The courtyard was lovely. The shower was a little tricky but we loved the entire personality of the place. Highly recommend!

No Privacy
The property is very well maintained and the bed was comfortable. However the hotel dates from the 1930s so the rooms and bathrooms are very small and the walls are paper thin. The woman at the front desk talked on her phone much of the time I was there and you could hear her voice clearly 40 feet down the hall with the door shut. If there had been another person in the room with me the desk clerk could have heard all our conversations and other sounds.
