Very beautiful views atop a mountain overlooking the Mediterranean. The road up is a challenge, for sure. Probably unlike anything else you have driven, but very doable with a little patience. The size of the place it a little tight for a family of 4, but you can make it work. The pool and patio are lovely and the hosts are very kind.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Pepy (owner) is lovely and very helpful. The accommodation was great, and the private pool and patio was excellent. Having the ability walk out at any time and enjoy the sun without having to think about if you'll get space / how busy it will be etc was fantastic. Kitchenette was small but did the job for me - lots of crockery and glasses so not having to wash up constantly . The grounds were lovelt and well kept - flowers and herbs everywhere. On my last day i even got to see some goats that had wandered over from a nearby area! Amenities were great - reliable internet, excellent air-conditioning, strong water pressure in the shower. Only thing I would say is it is a bit remote and quite steep to get to, so it's best if you either rent a car or are prepared to get taxis (there are no real pavements on the roads nearby so walking felt a bit dangerous). Absolutely would stay again!

We found this location last minute due to a canceled flight. Pepy was quick to answer and help us resolve our situation. She greeted us kindly with fruits, wine and water. We loved the pool, especially since our kids played non-stop in it. The views are amazing, and it was nice to have the balcony for early morning and evenings. The hotel is very high up we didn’t have a problem with it but other more inexperienced drivers may be intimidated. Definitely you would need a car since all the restaurants are in Almyrida. We did enjoy staying really local and ate at a wonderful authentic taverna with a great view and through what seemed to be a deserted town. The grounds are beautiful but may be difficult for guests with disabilities or difficulties walking or climbing stairs.

Peaceful apartments with spectacular view.
The apartments are up a steep hill overlooking the coast, giving a spectacular view. The location is very peaceful, but you are only 5 to 10 minutes in the car down to the beaches and restaurants in Agia Pelagia, where there are a few shops and an excellent butcher, is you want to cook in the apartment. The owner and cleaning staff were lovely and friendly. Would stay in the apartments again.

Nice place to stay for a relax camily vacation
The place is up on a hill side. You definitely need a car in order to stay here. The view is spectacular. The owner Pepy is very helpful. She lent us her travel books for us to use during our stay and she rushed back from Iraklion one night to fix our hot water problem. She also asked us to pick all the lemons we need. We were also able to sit outside the patio for breakfast and enjoy the view.

Mixed bag.
Beautiful views, really incredible. Was forced to move from one room to another despite booking in advance, though my parents were upgraded. They missed cleaning the room one day, for some reason. Left fruit and a wonderful bottle of wine to drink.

Extremely relaxing vacation. I even held a coaching hangout there. Bertty is very helpful with all my needs. The view from my room is breathtaking. You must have a car.

Great views
Very nice apartment with unbelievable views. The owner was very nice and helpful. The complex is on top of a mountain so even though it does have air conditioning, it is not needed. The location is difficult to find. I suggest using Google maps as a guide. Be aware that the driveway is steep and winds its way up about 3/4 mile to the property

Exciting Location
Hire a car for this location. Nymphes is a family run apartment complex with little access to anything. The fantastic views are 2KM vertical from the beach at Agias Pelagius and a car is a must

An incredible view, wonderful apts.
These are very nice apts at the top of a (short) scary road. The view comes with that cost, but, man, it was worth it! Just incredible. Hosts were very nice, I am sorry we did not get to say goodbye, we left early to catch the ferry. I imagine it would be wonderful for a romantic vacation, but our son (8) enjoyed it as well. Small children will need to be watched closely, though, lots of stairs and cliffs. Do not let that stop you, it is an amazing place.

3 nights stay- at top of mountain
It has a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea right from the balcony of the hotel. We were welcome with a bottle of Cretan Wine. Very thoughtful from our host. Every morning, we were greeted by host's 2 cats at the balcony while having our sumptuous breakfast prepared by the host. The address of the hotel were not found in my rental car's GPS system. It is very kind of the host to pick us up at a nearby church and follow her car to reach the hotel. The drive up the mountain was quite a narrow and steep one. Some suggestions: the room was not clean up and bed wasn't made every day. Probably due to lack of staff. I only see the host alone during my stay. The breakfast was quite a wait as the host was making it herself. We have a delightful local breakfast that put a smile on our face each morning. In fact, we were looking forward to the breakfast. One improvement is, The host could also provide a breakfast menu with pictures. And also let us know the cost of breakfast beforehand. We were taken aback when the cost is 10Euro per pax per day. That means a 20euro breakfast for my wife and me. Rather expensive. But still justifiable because it is based on your orders not mass produced buffet breakfast. Lastly, you definitely need a car to go to the hotel!! Taxi trip cost around 40euro per trip from airport or port. Too costly.

The Hotel was very far from everything. It has breathtaking veiw of the ocean with the cove. We stayed at the hotel in the begining of May so maybe they didn`t have time to get the hotel ready for the season. The room and gardens were not maintained very well. The veiw was amazing. The women in charge we very helpful. we we dissapointed by the run down state of the room. There are cheaper places closer to the beach that we have have stayed at before. Behind the hotel property there was a dog that barked in the middle of the night.

What a view.
What a place! Be sure first of one thing, this place is not luxury, or 5 star, but for the price you can't expect so. It has what is definitely the best view in or aound Agia Pelagia. It's about a 7 minute drive to town, don't even think about walking! It's comfortable, had everything they said would be there, and was cheap. There were things I would change about the place, but isn't there always? I thought it was great value and a great location, worth staying for the view alone!

Very nice apartment, remarkable views, up in heaven
We were agreably surprised to find a beautiful apartment with spectacular views in Ayia Pelagia. The owner is very nice, will help you with whatever you need. I called it in heaven because you have to drive up the mountain on what looks like a single road but it is a two way road that is very steep. If you have a fear of heights, you won't be able to drive up nor down. Also lots of cats in the area but if you don't want them, they will not come back. We stayed a week, loved it there. Everything is chosen with good taste. Very good price for the quality of accomodation. There are several grocery stores down on the beach and good restaurants too. Lovely place. 9/10

Awesome views from nymphes hotel
If you are traveling to Crete, particularly the Heraklion area, we would highly recommend the nymphes hotel. The location is outside of the city about 20 minutes and is high atop a hill which overlooks the small beach town of Agia Pelagia. The hotel is very nice and Pepy welcomed our family when we arrived late at night. She graciously offered us food from her home so that we could have dinner! The accomodations were perfect and we rented two apartments for our group of 7 travelers. Each apartment had a small kitchen so we were able to cook dinner on the nights where we wanted to stay in and relax. The location is just off the national road so we were able to travel to Rethymnon, Knossos and Agios Nikolaos on day trips.

CATS, cats, CATS
If you love cats, stay here. There were several cats running around the property that would 'invade' the balconies and patios and would run into your room if there were open windows or doors. The owner suggested that we should "spray them with water" to get them to stay away. We tried, but it didn't work. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I gave the 'service' a 3 because of the fact that the room smelled when we first arrived. It turned out to be spilled milk under the refridgerator. They came to clean it, but it still smelled afterwards and we ended up having to ask for cleanser (and they gave it to us) to attempt to clean it ourselves. Same reason for the midlevel appraisal of the condition of the hotel. Otherwise, it was a nice, clean place. The rooms only have hand-held showers. Otherwise our lower scores were based on the invasion of cats throughout our stay. If we had liked cats, or not been allergic, it would have been a nice place to stay. It is also basically mandatory to rent a car if you want to get to anywhere else--a grocery store or a restaurant, for example. It is high on the side of a mountain with a difficult road to travel to make it there. We didn't think that was clear on the description of the hotel. The location makes for a beautiful view and fresh air.

One of a kind view
Hotel was clean and very comfortable, with a great porch and view of the coast 1000 ft below. I only wish the pool were heated so we could swim! This is a great get-away and super-peaceful environment to relax in. My only complaint is that the lighting in the living space isn't adequate for reading.

Best view in Agia Pelagia!
We stayed at the Nymphes in September 2009. The hotel is in a great location for exploring the island of Crete, just west of Heraklion and not too far off the main road. Perched high on a hill on a rough, narrow road, you will definitely want to rent a car if you stay here. Our double room on the top floor included everything we needed... a large wardrobe, a kitchenette, a table and chairs and a tiny shower. The view from the private balcony overlooks the town of Agia Pelagia and the Cretan Sea. We would start our day with a coffee on the balcony, and in the evening we would just sit and watch the stars, the twinkling lights of the town, and later, the lights of two cruise ships passing in the night. The owner, her staff, and her many cats helped to make this a very pleasant stay. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Great space, welcoming staff, unusual location
Rooms: This is a very pretty apartment-style hotel--a cluster of townhouse villas on a hillside. Classic Greek white and blue. Ample space with kitchenettes, balconies or patios with stunning views over the hillside to the town and sea. Tastefully furnished. Friendly cats and atmospheric grape arbours. Owner / manager / staff: Pepy is a very nice and generous woman. Talked us in my mobile phone when we drove their quite late after a delayed ferry arrival. She and her staff leave home grown grapes and oregano and local wine for the guests. She uncomplainingly came through with a flashlight / battery lamp when the area was hit by a power outage late the night we had to pack for an early morning departure. Travellers should know this is a not a thickly staffed hotel. It's the owner and a couple of others. Think largish friendly B&B, not conventional hotel. Location: overlooking Agia Pelagia, just off the main national road, about 15 km west of Heraklio. Well located for exploring everything from Rethynmo to Matala to Agios Nicolaos. But the road up to the hotel (quite steep, poorly lit) and the isolated location (alone on a hilltop road) may not be for everyone. We liked it (away from the beachtown craziness of much of Crete and the grittiness of Heraklio), but it's not for everyone. And the drive up the hill at night is not for the skittish.

Fantastic Views
I can't say enough good things about the Nymphes. The hotel is everything that you think a Greek hotel should be. White washed walls, blue trim, fabulous view of the sea, lovely patio with grape vines dripping down. The apartment was immaculate, the beds were comfy, (not something that I can say of other hotels in Greece). The AC was excellent. The pool had a lovely view of the Meditterean. Only cavet is the goat path that disguises it self as a road up to the hotel. Narrow and steep doesn't even begin to describe the white knuckle experience of driving up this path. Yes, it got better each day as we learned the twists and turns, but we choose not to navigate it in the dark. NO LIGHTS on the road. And we are used to driving in the Caribbean.
