Basic but clean and comfortable. Small rooms but fine for a night's stay. Good to have the restaurant onsite, although it is a shame it is not open all day. Helpful staff

The room was what I expected from a Campanile. It was clean, functional and quite easily found. I would suggest that the name of the Aire and road number is included in the information about the place. I would also suggest that if outside ventilation is available the bathrooms are fitted with extractor fans. I know this would be quite a major expense but should be considered when a refurb is due..

We stayed at the Hotel Campanile because we had flown into Lyon and wanted an inexpensive place to spend the night before driving west. The hotel is convenient to the highway (although our GPS couldn't locate the exact spot and led us down a dirt road into a woods--beware.) and fulfilled our basic needs. The staff was very friendly and helpful--they do speak passable English. The rooms are fairly basic and I found the mattress too hard to be comfortable. My husband says there was a dead insect on the floor, which I didn't see. The attached restaurant is acceptable in quality and certainly reasonable in price. All in all, I'd say that if this location is one where you're going to be, the Hotel Campanile is not a bad choice.

It took us nearly an hour to check in because we couldn't get in the gate! The place is completely fenced in. We tried pushing all of the buttons on the key pad that are traditionally used to call an office, but nothing worked. Eventually we asked a gas attendant at the station next to it and she called and they wanted is to push an area below the security camera (who would have thought?!?). So after we get in and get all checked in we walk up to our room- which smelled disgusting, like moldy and smokey. So we opened the window and kicked the circulation fan on, the smell never really went away, it got more tolerable though. But the floors hadn't been swept, everything was dusty and there was mold and dirt on the shower curtain. But the worst thing was a maid or someone knocking on our door at 8 am and barging in - if we hadn't chained the door she would have waltzed right on in (We had the "do not disturb" sign on the door too). To top it off, they didn't even say sorry or excuse me- not a word came out! We had a long drive the day before, and a long drive to look forward to that day, and this was not a clean, restful place to make a pit stop for the night.

Very comfortable, it was a pleasant surprise to have tea and coffee making facilities in France.

Booked this as we decided to go a different route to the South of France. We didn't want to stay in St Etienne as we thought it would be difficult to get in and out on the freeway in the morning. The hotel was clean. A little dated and could do with a redo, however it was great for a quick stopover. Good and secure parking.
