Great location across the street from the train/subway station. Close to East Side Gallery and music venues. Property seems quite new, really lovely design and aesthetic in the rooms and common areas. Excellent breakfast buffet with hot and cold foods, espresso machine and tea. Rooms had nice lighting, dark shades/curtains. No mini bar, coffee/tea supplies in the room and could use some more closet/drawer space but overall a great place at a great rate. Highly recommend!

Unsafe and uncomfortable.
Unsafe hotel with barely functional cooling that wraps it's beds in a plastic liner. Worst sleep in a very long time. We had locked the door with the deadbolt and a rude eastern European man in black simply opened the door and barged in unannounced. The deadbolt clearly did nothing. The hotel staff was dismissive when we asked for extra towels and help cooling the room below 24C. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.

it's a posh hostel
this hotel is an example of style over substance. It looks the part but is in fact nothing more than a posh hostel...the rooms are simply a bed. There is no fridge, no facilities to make a hot drink, not even a bottle of water. There is one choice of soap for everything in the bathroom and no other products. you can't eat or drink there outside of set hours, no room menu or service. There is no facility to even buy a drink or food (no vending machines) and it's not situated near any shops so out of hours you are stuck. the staff were cold to any request, almost laughing at me for asking where I could buy a bottle of water. If you order food delivery, you have to wait in reception until it arrives as there is no phone in the room. this hotel advertises itself as a 4 star hotel, but it's nowhere near and operates on the very basic level. Also one day I asked for my room to be cleaned, and only the bed was made, the maid didn't even go into the bathroom. Really - if you want this kind of experience go to the MIchelberger. If you want a REAL 4 star hotel, go ANYWHERE else.

Overall my feelings of this place are mixed. On the negative side. The cleaning staff were horrible. Every morning would slam doors and bang their equipment all through the hallways making it impossible to sleep. Also when cleaning the room they did not change the linen, nor would they leave fresh toiletries or even toilet paper which I had to ask for from front desk. The rooms air conditioning either did not work, or 18°C means something different there. The television would not connect to their wifi so we were unable to watch anything not in German other then Nickelodeon. Also there being no fridge in the hotel room came as a shock and huge inconvenience, which led to certain staff members seemingly becoming irritated when we asked for ice. The Positives. The restaurant staff were absolutely lovely and accommodating, some of which went above and beyond to make sure we were well looked after and taken care of. The restaurant Pizza Mario x Gambino attached to the hotel, both the owners and all their staff were 20 out of 10. The food was very well priced and perfect every time. Even if not staying at the hotel would highly recommend stopping by for a pizza and drink. The rooftop bar was absolutely amazing, perfect views and atmosphere, with a bartender who’s friendliness and cocktail skills were impeccable. Overall not the worst place, at times felt like a fancy step above a hostel. Would probably recommend for short stays.
