Old hotel. Needs a good cleaning.

There is a piece of scotch tape holding up a small printed piece of paper covering the lock that proclaims the unit to be sanitized. Simply not true. Upon entering the room (#214) we spotted empty oatmeal bags on the floor under the bench along with a full trash bag! Never acceptable especially during Covid. The fan in the room which is marked with the unit number has about a quarter of an inch of dust on it. The place just seemed very dirty. It is old and rustic and that is fine. But no excuse for such accumulated dirt.

      Nice stay for 2 nights

Clean room, hot water, and decent WiFi for Seward. I was impressed with the hotel as it is a family owned/run establishment. The building is also historic to the area. Having an elevator was useful for bringing up the luggage to the 3rd floor. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others

      Great lobby

The hotel is old and quaint. The rooms are in good condition. The lobby is very unique and something fun to experience. The restaurant is pretty good, but very small. The staff were very helpful.

      Don't miss the restaurant!

We spent one night in the historic wing of the hotel. It was not great. If you just need a place to crash, this works. If you're looming for something more, try someplace else. The food in the restaurant is 5 Star! It was outstanding! And the owners of the restaurant were wonderful! Dont miss the restaurant!

      Noisy

I recognize this is a historic hotel, but the noisy creaky floors from rooms above were pretty bad even taking that into account. If you can’t sleep through constant floor creaking I would not recommend. The doors are pretty thin and employees had loud conversations in hall, plus very loudly dumping ice from ice machine into buckets at 6am.

Limited parking, snooze next to lobby bear bum?

Decent location, close to restaurants, shops, and the water. About 20 min walk to the marina. Room was nice, but I wish there was a recycling bin either in the room or somewhere on the property. While there is a small complimentary parking lot, it is first come, 1st serve, so we had quite a time finding a spot close enough to unload our luggage on the street as we arrived in the evening. Street parking has some signs about a 2 hour limit during the day and front desk staff were not clear about this when asked so we weren't sure where to leave our car during our excursions, but luckily a spot eventually opened in the hotel lot, so just be mindful of the limited parking at times. Front desk staff were...business casual at best, and I think sometimes found resting in the lobby next the polar bear butt, but I wasn't entirely sure. For the love of animals in general please don't bring your pet to the Alaska wing!! That was the one message that was loud and clear.
