We enjoyed at quiet 4 day stay ay hotel Bochum while we went to see Ghost in concert and Starlight Express. In terms of convenience for the concert and Starlight it couldn't be better literally NEXT DOOR. On check in it does feel a bit 'odd' having reception at the bar...feels like it was a temporary move years ago and it never changed....it is just strange when there is a HUGE space in the lobby and then you have the bar and reception on top of each other. Breakfast was ok...limited options for a cooked breakfast....bacon (which was cooked to death one day) scrambled eggs, boiled egg, beans and pancakes....maybe a sausage option one day?...fried eggs? Continental choices were fine. Also the breakfast staff whilst very friendly are a little 'over eager' to take plates off you...twice we were still eating and people approached to take a plate from under our nose....maybe just take a slight step back? Finally the biggest gripe was air conditioning, the weather was hot the week we were there and our room was sweltering, the windows don't open (apart from a slight crack - I assume for safety) and the AC didnt work...going back to the room was 'initimidating' at time since it was like walking into an oven...I asked at the front desk and was simply told.....'there is an issue' . Even a fan to just move the air would have provided some relief....in the early hours, not being able to sleep I held the door to the room open just to try and get some kind of 'air flow'

A nice hotel that offered us a spacious room and a nice bathroom but had some small issues. One issue was that a plug socket on the bed didn't work so it was a hassle plugging in more than one item nearby which isn't much of an issue I know but just a small little gripe. A different issue was that the TV did work. None of the international channels worked when using it but the local channels did. It was fortunate that we were busy most of the time we were in Bochum however, it was on for certain parts of the trip so we missed out on any news about the UK unless we understood the german channels which worked with no subtitles. Regardless of these issues, they weren't a big factor in the quality of the room. The bed was firm and the pillows super soft and the room had a desk and a fridge to put some of our drinks in. The lobby itself was stunning and spacious and has plenty of space if you wanted to meet with friends at the hotel to drink and hang out.

Everything is good, it is just weird the complete Lobby decorated in black with dark lila lights. Despite the place is good, clean and pretty well maintained the feeling is just like Halloween Party. The check-in Process was good with a friendly staff. It could improve the level of professional advice.
