Wonderful stay - just as video showed
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Hotel Sari Konak. The hotel is a short walk from all sorts of restaurants, market shops, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Little further on are the Topkapi Palace and Basilica Cistern. Everyone mentions how convenient it is to be so centrally located in Sultanahmet, and we agree. We were there for a weekend that brought even more people to Istanbul because of a holiday, and we chose to pass up on the long lines for the mosques that form during the day, opting to see those sites later in the evening since they were so close to the hotel. We also took advantage of the public transportation that was also close to the hotel. Each time you leave, you give your key to the gentleman at the front desk. This gives you a wonderful opportunity to touch base with whomever is there as you return, commenting on your day, your walks, and ask any questions. Our room was a standard double room, which was a good size, with comfortable bed and nice shower/bathroom. There is a small refrigerator in the room and tea/coffee kettle service. Our room was on the third floor, next to the elevator and just down the short walk to take the steps to the rooftop. Even though the hotel was full the days we were there, we never heard anyone in the hallways or heard the elevator running. Wi-Fi service was excellent. The rooftop was a very beautiful and special place to enjoy throughout the day. We went up each morning for the delightful breakfast with excellent service.

The staff were very helpful. They helped us locate various areas of interest and most important provided taxi service at lesser price. If you want to be near the main attractions of the area at a walking distance then this is the place to be. Now for what is not good (for some). The property states the existence of an elevator. There is one on one side of the hotel after you go 8 steps up (with luggage). This side of the hotel are for the single rooms so, if that is what you want, then you are OK. However, if you ask for a suite for more than 4 people then you will be on the other side of the hotel where there is no elevator. Room 502 is only 2 steps up on the first floor. Room 503 is on the second floor and room 504 is on the third or top floor. To get to the upper floors you have to go up a spiral stairs (not good with luggage). I had to do it with 8 pcs. of luggage and it was not fun (but I lost some weight). Also, at the time of our trip, the outdoor area for breakfast on the ground level was under renovation so we had breakfast on the roof terrace which was pleasant (we accessed it by going downstairs to the other side of the building then up by elevator). Free breakfast is good but, the same, and after 4 days we had breakfast at a restaurant on the fifth day. The area can be congested and many taxi and bus drivers may/will drop you far from the hotel if there is traffic on your way back from an excursion or a simple trip during traffic time (that happened to us).

This hotel is in a great location but is in terrible condition (see exposed electrical and mold pictures) and has some of the worst customer service. It’s also worth noting that the cancellation policy on Hotels.com is inaccurate, they don’t offer transportation services (taxi for a fee), and the breakfast food seems to be recycled and not hygienic.

Great value, great location
This hotel is perfectly located, just a 5 minute walk from the Blue Mosque. Despite its location, we slept perfectly every night and there was very little noise. The hotel staff are friendly and speak great English, so communication was smooth and efficient. The hotel breakfast is good, though my only suggested addition would be to add some cold meats to the selection! The Tahini paste is delicious. Our room was quite small, but for £75 per night, I don't think anyone could have any complaints! The room comes equipped with a comfy bed, a safe, a TV and a balcony. The bathroom is a decent size and there were zero issues with the shower/hot water. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and thought we got great value for money. We would certainly stay again!
