Disappointing. Will not return
Extremely disappointing. On arrival, with another couple, we were both offered an upgrade to a bay view room for £20. Their room, #5, had large bay windows with two large easy chairs, was spacious and a good bathroom. Our room, #6 was very small, sink in room, a cupboard with the toilet and small shower, tall, sash windows and only a desk chair. For the same rate. On top of it, the toilet did not flush properly and the radiators did not work. They were definitely needed. The room freezing. In the evening we asked for an extra blanket and a beadspread was sent up. We were only there one night, thank goodness. On checking out when I informed reception of the issues, all that was said was she would notify housekeeping and the manager when he came on at 4pm. And still charged the extra £20. We would have been better off in our original room. We felt very taken advantage of. We go to St. Andrews often. This was our first stay at The Russel and will be our last.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff
This place was so lovely, the staff were so friendly & couldn’t do enough for us. Room was very nice & comfortable. The only issue was the radiator wouldn’t turn off so we were cooking! But still slept very well in the comfy bed :) will definitely be back.

Excellent location, very pleasant, helpful staff. Room 5 was superb with an amazing bay window with views over the bay. Breakfast was lovely and we had a meal on Sunday night that was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Great Weekend Away
We celebrated our wedding anniversary in The Russell Hotel & all the staff were so friendly & helpful. Food was tremendous & views from room 5 were stunning, the sunny weather helped too. Highly recommend this hotel to everyone

Disappointing for the money.
Room was cramped and bathroom extremely small with no hooks or rails for towels, etc. there was a radiator situated behind the thick curtains therefore very cold overnight and off during the day - no way to manually control it. Breakfast was limited but pleasant. Staff were polite.

Staff were very good . Hotel is a bit run down, bedroom and bathroom freezing , shower is either burning or freezing !! Breakfast excellent ! Could do with remote control for tv . Room uncomfortably cold !
