Convenient location for shopping & restaurants
We had a good stay at JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing with all their facilities. The only set back was, upon check in, the Hotel does not honour what was stipulated on the contract we signed with Expedia.com.au My Deluxe Room does include Continental Breakfast, Free High Speed Internet and Free Airport Shuttle. After negotiating with the manager, Marriott agreed to give us all except the Free Airport Shuttle. We have travel all over the world and used Expedia.com.au and this is the first bad experience we had.

This hotel is certainly centrally located, the only draw back is the traffic we had to deal with while getting in and out of the hotel. We were happy about everything except the limited selection on their buffet menu. . Aside from the hotel itself, I did experienced problem with this booking, while my confirmation clearly stated the room I booked comes with free breakfast, but I booked it during my travel, and I could not print out the confirmation, and could not show it to the front desk clerk, rather than keep disagreeing with him, my friend had to use his local influences, and had to contact the top management to up grade me to the executive level, so I can get the free breakfast. I can't help to wonder what would happen if I don't have a friend with local contact. Therefore, I would really like to have someone look into this matter, and get back to me on what actually went wrong on my booking..

Marriott in Chongqing
The Marriott is a great choice, in fact, my only choice, when staying in Nanjing...very central location, near the river and new shopping areas under development. And the service and facilities are high quality four star. The staff are able and speaking English, friendly and attentive, and the food quality is also very good. Beds are comfortable and rooms spacious...I came away rested from the trip and would certainly return.

Good quality considering the city...
Chongqing is a remote 2nd tier Chinese city, once you digest this fact, then everything about your stay will be great. I would say JW Marriot is as good as any hotel in the area. The location is great, the executive lounge is great, with fresh juice, a must have! In fact, I think fresh juice is one thing this hotel did better than any other I have stayed at before. With that in mind, you have to realize you are not in Hong Kong or Tokyo. The staff tried their best, but they were not of the same caliber. I still enjoyed having conversations in faltering English, which gives a more exotic remote feeling. The room is a bit dated, but completely fine. Everywhere has an old Ex-Pat air which I enjoyed very much. The free breakfast buffet was also excellent. Sign up to be a Marriot Rewards member so you do not have to pay for wifi. I would stay here again.
