The Royal Marine Hotel - Dun Laoghaire
There was an issue with hotels .com and the hotel which led us to be booked into another hotel as the royal marine was full, not what you want to hear after 20 hours travel The receptionist in the royal marine was very apologetic and helpful to us just an unfortunate incident and for the first time using makes me wonder will I use them again

Think twice
Think twice, it’s a long way from Dublin and the hotel is run down. They put my husband and two kids in a different building from me and my other two kids. I really am very disappointed

Near Dalkie&Ireland's most famous Rock & Rollers
My family really liked this place. You can take a bus from the airport that deposits you at the hotel's front door. As well, it is only a couple minutes walk to get to the DART which takes you to the major stops in downtown Dublin in about 20 minutes. There is a town that you can walk to called Dalkie (where apparently the likes of Van Morrison and Bono have places along the seaside) just up the coast. The town is very nice and there are a number of places to eat and a famous bar (that we didn't get to). rooms are comfortable; the breakfast was OK.

Rooms need updating
My husband and I were very impressed with the entrance to the hotel both from the main entrance and the car park. The reception area was modern and had beautiful decor, and check in was swift, esp given that we were an hour early. The hotel room itself was very average and the bathroom was old fashioned, small and not at all in keeping with the main areas of the hotel. We enjoyed a drink in the bar/reception area-we had 2 drinks each but on the second round my husband could not have a corona as the fridge had not been restocked. We did not eat in the hotel but the food looked and smelled delicious. Recommend 8a Brasserie in Monkstown. Overall we enjoyed our stay as the hotel was in a great location to explore the local area.
