Excellent hotel
The hotel has a very special charm and character, especially in the bar area which has big fireplaces. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and I loved the complementary chocolate! The pool area was also great and nice to use before breakfast. The only issue we had was at reception when checking in. There was a little confusion and we almost ended up paying twice for our rooms. Also, even though I had emailed earlier in the week to book breakfast, there was also some confusion about that.

40th Anniversary at The Merrion
We arrived on a wintry, rainy day at The Merrion and were instantly impressed with the quick and efficient service of everyone who helped us with registration, baggage, room service, and all kinds of other useful information about places to go, eat and drink in Dublin. Everyone was so courteous and extremely ready to assist us at all times. Extra features--the spa and swimming pool, the Cellar Bar with traditional Irish music, as well as the charming Victorian pub, good meals, and dining outside while gazing at a beautiful garden--were all a real treat for us. In short, for nearly a week, we had a splendid time relaxing at The Merrion.

Fabulous Hotel!
Absolutely fabulous! Every detail appointed impeccably. The staff knowledgeable and kind, very friendly. The Garden Restaurant was delicious. Our room was spacious and very clean. The neighborhood was great for sightseeing, easy walks to most sights; yet, a quiet street. We will definitely be back!

Poor 2.0
Second Time was Horrible!
We could not get our room until 4:15 - and they put us in a handicapped room with dirty bathroom floors. We requested a manager to call, and no one did so I went back to lobby before dinner after waiting 2 hours - and explained the room we booked and one we got and they called 2 hours later stating they would move us - but room really wasn't much better. We had stayed there before and loved it - just a major disappointment and felt we were penalized for booking on - we booked months ago and didn't get room we paid for.
