Not to the standard we expected
While it was lovely to go on beautiful hikes straight from the lodge, the maintenance and service of the place were poor. We came at 16:00 which is the check in time, and still had to wait for an hour until our cabin was ready. We took a cabin with a kitchen since there is no vegan options in the area. The heat didn't work and also the kitchen oven. There is no way to contact the reception other than walking/driving there from the cabins' area (which is up on a hill). We had to spend half a day going back and forth to ask that someone will come to fix the oven and heat, or explain to us how to operate them. When he finally came, he explained how to turn on the oven while admitting it's not trivial to operate it (we would have expected some written instructions in the cabin in that case). He couldn't fix the heating so we had to wait another few hours for someone else to fix it. All and all we were disappointed and won't be back in the future.

Great location in Big Sur
Simple, rustic multi-unit cabin/motel type accommodations in a wonderful redwood forest. Rooms were good sized with large bath, sofa seating area, king bed & small private deck with 2 chairs. A short walk away was the swimming pool area. The lodge served breakfast & lunch with a few selections. Nice gift shop for souvenirs. Nature walk (easy) right beside the lodge and trailhead to Pfeiffer Falls (elevation gain with many stairs) just across the street. Free access to the state parks during your stay. Very convenient and worth the price.

Excellent service
The place itself was fine, but what really shone was the service. They texted several times throughout our stay to see how things were going, and corrected things immediately. The power was off when we arrived, and they said I could cancel at no charge if I wanted. I stayed, and the power came on shortly. They gave me a partial refund anyway even though I told them they didn’t need to.

You simply cannot beat the location. The cabins are clean and spacious and the shower is fantastic. You are in the woods in a national park, so remember to bring snacks/food/drinks if you plan to arrive after 8 pm.

6/10 Good

Fun times, but could improve.
Great camping experience at big sur lodge.. but the Cabin experience was So So. Dated cabins, No AC (not that its normally need). This time of year it was 85+ F in the room upon our arrival. Nights cold, and using the fireplace was questionable as the whole room has a smell of smoke. It led me to believe that the fireplace didn't ventilate properly so we passed on starting a fire. The restaurant was understaffed. Long waits for food with hungry kiddo's was no fun. We eventually went elsewhere for food because of this.
