I was on a brief trip for some business and stayed only 1 night. Got upgraded but had no time to enjoy any facilities. Service is excellent and I will definitely come back.

Though the hotel looks dated and some parts are in a need of a renovation, the service provided by the great staff more than made up for it. If you are looking for a place to chill, read, relax and be pampered, the shangrila is perfect. Though the rooms can get quite noisy as the walls are a bit thin. One suggestion for the hotel is to put the families together and the people without families together. as it could get quite noisy in the mornings when the kids were up. But overall, a lovely place.

Shangrila is a reputable brand across Asia. I have stayed in a few over the past few weeks and the experience is consistenly excellent from service, facilities, rooms and breakfast buffet. There is not much to do in Surabaya itself however it was good to have a mall with a nice food court and a cinema,

- Had a burger at the cafe that tasted like it was from McDonald's. - Upon checking into my room, I found very distracting renovation noise coming from the room above. - Mini bar was empty - Shower drain was clogged. - When leaving, the bell boys all stood by the side playing with their phones while guests were loading their luggage onto cars.

The hotels rate can no longer follow the standard of the hotel. It used to be the best hotel in Surabaya, but time is running out for th eold Shangri-La, which needs to reinvent itself - otherwise the new hotels in city center will take over soon, they actually already are!
