I expected better service
For the duration of my we kept having issues with the door mechanism and we had to go to the reception desk on several occasions to be told "you're swiping your card too fast" or "just keep trying you'll get in eventually". This is not the customer service i was expecting after hearing some great reviews from friends.. Would it have been too hard for a memebr of the team to check the lock or change our room after the problem was consistent

terrible hotel for the price
The hotel location is good if you want to be close to the sea front but the room is incrediably small and very old decor. The whole place does not look like a four star hotel. Staff members were cold and not so helpful. I left my kindle in the room by accident, and had to phone three times and the answer was they didnt find it...

Check out day happy day
Stayed four nights as week went on went from bad to worse. Hotel tired dirty in places carpets badly stained. Corridors were tired. Service in restaurant was terrible, bus trip got priority. Breakfast terrible as waiting for tables to be set ran out of butter, plates knives. Dinner service ran out of buttered spinach ordered salmon after a 45 min wait when it arrived was strange colour and more skin than fish i sent it back and some lady manager was argumentative saying it was salmon. They wanted to charge £15 for this ...was disgusting. Had to re order so waiting another 45 mins for food to arrive my partner had finished his meal. Supposing to eat as a couple do not expect this. Same day arrived back at 4 pm to find room not serviced. Was asked did i want it serviced? The rate i paid did not expect having to clean my own bathroom or make bed so not happy. Next night the noise from next door after midnight was terrible. Kids shouting screaming father shouting. Most of the staff were miserable no customer service skills. Receptionists were not welcoming. I made comment on arrival they were not pleasant. We ate two nights at Marco Pierre White restaurant where they know how to treat customers from walking in to leaving. Staff at Mercure could take a leaf out of their book. Only good point was view. Would i stay here again no would i recommend no

Only disappointing issue was the cost of £15.50 a head for breakfast. Nice. But in my opinion too much for what you get
