I'm afraid this is not, in our opinion, a 4-star hotel.
The main door to the building was missing one handle and the bell for disabled people was behind a plant. The lobby felt dark and not very welcoming, and on Sunday they shut the doors before 21:30!
The room was also very disappointing. The overall decor felt shabby and dated. The furniture looks likes it was from Oak Furniture, a picture frame was missing form the wall (judging by the discolouring on the wall), the television aerial was not plugged in, the kettle was behind the television (not very safe) and hadn't been descaled in a while, the light dimmer came off, there were no hooks on the wall for the coats and they could do with some blackout curtains.
The bathroom was worse. Upon arrival there was no soap or shower-gel, unless you count the half bottle left from the previous guest. The shower tray was all scratched, and it was very difficult to control the temperature of the water. It went from cold to hot and back to cold without even touching the controls. The toilet flush plate was half broken, tiles around the shower and on the walls were cracked, the extractor fan was not opening properly (it sort of worked but not as it was supposed to) and the sink, let's just say it has seen better days. Although the maid made the bed every day they did not wipe down the bathroom, or replenish the tea bags, or wash or change the dirty mugs, something I would definitely expect from a 4-star hotel.
