    Great place

We stayed two nights in the area to attend a family wedding. The property is ideally located to visit Castle Combe on foot or by car. The property is very warm and comfortable. Spotting the fairy lights as we pulled up the driveway in the dark was a welcoming touch. Views across the fields to the wooded area gives the place a feel of being right out in the countryside yet Castle Combe is only a short walk away and hidden down the valley. Julie is an amazing host. She offered us lifts to and from the church and wedding reception which was much more than we would have expected. The breakfast Julie provided was lovely, the croissants were delicious and the range of biscuits for snacks excellent. Julie even insisted we took the biscuits for our return journey home which we gratefully accepted as it was 5 hours. Shame we did not have more time to explore the surrounding area due to our short stay. I would recommend The Garden lodge and if visiting the area again definitely stay here.

    Hospitality above and beyond

This property is a gem. We felt very welcomed by Julie and the cottage was beautifully decorated with vases of roses. We stayed with our two teenage children plus dog and the cottage is very pleasing to the eye, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very plentiful with fresh crossaints, pan au chocolate, cereals including granola, seeded bread, jam, marmalade, butter, jug of orange juice, milk, eggs, varied selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and all appliances and crockery needed. The shower rooms are especially clean with toiletries to use and plenty of fresh towels. We slept wonderfully. The cottage is set in beautiful grounds and I felt safe walking our dog at night and early morning. There is a wooded walk to Castle Combe which is a bonus as parking in this picturesque village is limited. We had easy access to visit Bath using the park and ride. Parking at the cottage is easy and access through a gate. Julie's openess makes you feel like a special guest and we are glad we chose this property to stay in and it will hold a happy holiday memory for us. You certainly know when someone cares. Julie has it just right.

    Wonderful Christmas stay

Lodge is in a great location and Julie could not have done more for us before and during our stay. Plenty of places to visit round about and lots of interesting walks. Very clean, warm, wonderful beds and bedrooms, and loads of hot water. We took our dog and it was brilliant to be able to walk her straight into the woods each morning. The lodge is very well equipped with plenty of nice crockery, glasses, kitchen utensils etc which is a real bonus.

Delightful Setting, Very Generous Host in a Remarkable Location

Julie was warm and inviting as soon as we arrived. Helpful with getting us unpacked and aiding us with our precocious young puppy. She provided a delicious package of croissants, bread, eggs and orange juice - just a sign of how far she goes above and beyond. The lodge itself is beautiful with a stunning courtyard overlooking a field - perfect for sunset drinks - and finished by Julie's freshly picked flowers. All in all we had a wonderful time and cannot wait to return. Thank you Julie!

    Perfect getaway.

Great little place to stay, Julie was very welcoming & friendly, she provided us a with all the necessities, milk, cake, bread, eggs, croissants etc everything needed for breakfast/afternoon tea. A 15 min walk from the cottage garden through woodland straight into Castle Combe village which is lovely & picturesque, both pubs in the village were very welcoming with good food & drink. Would definitely come again & recommend 100%

A perfect Cotswolds home from home

We had a lovely six night break during the July heatwave with our twenty year old son and twenty two year old daughter and Ted our Norfolk Terrier. Having visited Castle Combe for the day before, we purposefully chose Julie’s accommodation to explore this part of the Cotswolds. We visited Cirencester, Tetbury, Lacock, Bath and Bradford on Avon plus numerous Gloucestershire villages to include Broadway, Chipping Campden and Burford. It’s the perfect location and is so beautiful. We had several gorgeous breakfasts at the local Manor House golf club and sampled numerous local pubs for both lunch and dinner. They were all lovely. The cottage was also very well equipped for the couple of barbecues and meals in that we had and the setting is just stunning with it’s beautiful views and pretty woodland. Julie was the perfect hostess and couldn’t do enough for us. We’d love to stay again and can’t recommend her enough!

    Exceptional!

We spent a glorious few days at The Garden Lodge! Communicating with Julie was a breeze leading up to, and during, our stay and she couldn't have done more to help make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible! The cottage itself was wonderfully clean, tidy and equipped with everything (and more) that you could possibly need. The property and surrounding area are just gorgeous and we enjoyed walking through the woods to the picturesque Castle Combe (an absolute must if you visit!). We would love to return, sooner rather than later.
