Not the Best Hotel Experience
It's not the worst hotel we've stayed in, but it certainly isn't deserving of the "Grand" title. The location is great, and the common areas are clean, but our room was pretty run down, and they will try to squeeze every penny out of you. If you arrive a little early, there's a fee for that. If you want housekeeping, you have to request it everyday of your stay, and there's no guarantee they'll come in, provide toilet paper, or get towels. And, beware of the $20 per day "destination fee" that gives you 2 bottles of water a day (not guaranteed), a magazine you'll never read, internet access & fitness center access (that are already included in the price of your stay), newspapers & snacks in the lobby (which even non-guests have access to), phone calls, a whole $3 Metro card per reservation, and discounts on things that are absolutely useless to anyone who isn't taking tours, and $10 to spend in the hotel restaurants, which you can't use to get a cocktail. You also will not be told of what's included with this fee, unless you request the list. It definitely gives the impression this is only a way to get an extra $100 out of guests. Every time we asked about fees, asked for toilet paper, and house keeping issues, we were rebutted with a statement that invariably began with "the third-party site you used to book with us" so you'll definitely feel like you're getting the second-class citizen treatment if you book through Hotels.com.
