    Qingjing Lumama Yunnan Restaurant

    Qingjing, Nantou has many restaurants serving Yunnan Baiyi cuisine. One of the most famous of these is Qingjing Lumama Yunnan Restaurant, one of the longest established Baiyi restaurants around. The owner learned the cooking techniques of his parents, who hail from Yunnan, China, and northern Thailand, respectively. The restaurant offers dishes full of local Yunnan flavours for a wonderfully memorable dining experience. The restaurant's signature dish is pepper chicken, which is a delicious combination of crispy skin and tender chicken. "Duosheng" (a special dish from Southwest China made by chopping together minced pork and spices) tastes wonderful when wrapped in cabbage. Another must-try Yunnan dish is "Babasi", which are wide flat noodles made of rice, topped with chopped spring onion and minced meat. It smells incredible and tastes amazing when served with tomato, meatballs and pork bone soup. The restaurant is usually packed during holiday times, so booking ahead is advised.

    Sun Moon Lake Fuyuan Restaurant

    Located near Ita Thao Wharf at Sun Moon Lake, Sun Moon Lake Fuyuan Restaurant is a two-storey restaurant surrounded by large landscape glass windows. Outside the restaurant is the beautiful scenery of Sun Moon Lake and the green mountains, so you can enjoy the delicious food while taking in the superb views. The restaurant pays particular attention to the quality of its dishes and uses fresh local ingredients. It offers widely praised local dishes at affordable prices, including deliciously tender spring onion chicken, deep-fried mushrooms listed as the "Three Treasures of Yuchi", soft and chewy fried wild boar, steamed fish, salted crispy shrimp and Puli's local speciality, sugar cane shoots.     Haojipo Chicken Restaurant

    Haojipo Chicken Restaurant is a Yunnan Baiyi restaurant with its own unique style in Qingjing, Nantou. The restaurant has individual cabins, all of which offer wonderful views of the mountains in Qingjing. The most famous dish served here is roast chicken with herbs, which must be pre-ordered. The freshly roasted chicken smells amazing and its crispy skin and tender meat are lip-smackingly good. Other dishes worth trying are noodles with chicken oil, cabbage and sugar cane shoots (which grow in the mountains), soft and tender eggs sprinkled with spring onions, and Thai-style satay pork skewers. The distinctive cabins attract many visitors, who come here with their friends or families to enjoy a unique dining experience.

    Jindu Garden Restaurant

    Located in Puli, Nantou, Jindu Garden Restaurant was established in 1994 and is best known for its Taiwanese-style banquet dishes. It's widely praised by gourmets and food critics from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. The restaurant prepares its dishes using local ingredients and creative techniques that preserve their essence and original flavour. Among the restaurant's signature dishes are fresh melon in the green sea, lotus soup and rice with two kinds of dried meat. Its banquet dishes include Shaoxing Dongpo pork, flower-scented sturgeon, bamboo-fragrant rice, plum sauce bamboo shoots, chicken with angelica and other specialities. All dishes are reasonably priced, so you can try a wide variety of them without breaking the bank. The restaurant also offers a special pre-dinner drink, which is made from Puli's mature local vinegar and will certainly whet your appetite for your meal.

    Old Papa Black Tea is located at Shuishe Wharf, Sun Moon Lake, close to Zhongxing car park. Its eye-catching design makes it instantly recognisable. Old Papa Black Tea is a restaurant that serves both tea and noodles. It sells drinks and frozen products on one side and traditional meals on the other, so you can enjoy both dinner and dessert here. The restaurant mainly sells cheaply priced snacks, including braised pork rice, intestine noodles and traditional-flavoured thick rice noodles as well as soups and side dishes. Intestine noodles are the best seller. The handmade red noodles taste great when served with the soft and chewy braised intestines and crispy egg. The restaurant's desserts are also fantastic. A typical dessert is the honey-fragrant black tea baumkuchen made using Sun Moon Lake black tea. Its rich black tea ice-cream is also extremely popular. If you decide to have dinner at Old Papa Black Tea, don't leave without trying one of the delicious desserts.
