My room was cosy and very clean. The bed was high and the linen was immaculate and very comfortable, a proper princess bed. Location is walking distance from shops, restaurants and the quaint harbour. Breakfast was tasty and well presented. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend to others.

Though the front desk was empty for over an hour, once the owner came in we were promptly let into our room and they were incredibly helpful in setting up logistics. Would stay here again!! Very walkable, right in town.

Nice location, handy for Inverness Airport (good trade off between distance & cost), good availability of shops & eateries nearby, a bit dated but clean and comfortable, very welcoming and friendly hosts

The hotel had lots of character and is ideally situated. There are lots of stairs to reach reception and the rooms.

A good affordable base for our stay in Nairn.

Would have given 5 stars but on arrival found we had to use a lot of stairs , my fault for not asking before hand. Location was excellent. Rooms clean and comfortable. Denise ( owner) was very pleasant and friendly.

The worst booking experience we’ve ever had…

We’d pre-booked weeks ago, via Hotels.com. On arrival our room was unavailable due to a maintenance issue, so we had no room, with no warning. The “receptionist” said our booking was therefore cancelled. Awful place anyway… the hotel reception was a tiny closet accessed by steep stairs up on the first floor, the entire place looked dire, the public loo we used in the hotel was dreadful - no hand wash or paper towels. The “receptionist” said WE needed to cancel the room on hotels.com ourselves as she couldn’t manage the process. On attempting to do that, the hotels.com website said we had to cancel it direct with the hotel as it was checkin day, so it was too late to do anything on the website. Awful service from Hotels.com, and the hotel itself. The worst booking experience we’ve ever had. I just hope that hotels.com do not attempt to take any money from me for this booking, which was cancelled by the hotel with absolutely no notice. We had to start searching round for an alternate accommodation at 5pm… not impressed!!

6/10 Good

We booked the Junior Suite as there was 2 adults and a child, however on arrival at 8 in the evening we were told the manager had let the room out to a couple staying a couple of nights the previous day. The only availability was a double room and a Jaybee guest bed. Given the time and lack of availability elsewhere we reluctantly accepted. The bed, pillow, duvet and linen were brought to the room but we were expected to make the bed ourselves. Room 12 was light and bright but the bathroom was very dated with black mold on the blind. There was also evidence of a water leak in the ceiling where the paper had split. Breakfast was lovely but make sure you gove it plenty of time. We went down at 9 o'clock and it took 75 minutes from sitting down to receiving a cooked breakfast. The toilets around the dining room are disgusting. We asked for a reduction on the price given the issues we had and it was rejected; we were told we could've gone elsewhere.

Not worth the money

Poor service. No toilet paper in room. Not enough towels. Grumpy hostess. Breakfast ok. More a B&B than a hotel. Tired and run-down place but central location. Heavily overpriced.

10/10 Exceptional

I was welcomed by the friendly owner Denise on arrival and given the top floor room that was clean and warm with window views over the roof tops of the quaint little town of Nairn. Denise was friendly and helpful and I was happy to have a heater in my room, coming from ibiza summer, I wasn't ready for the cold of Scotland. In the area, there are many thrift shops, some good restaurants, especially The Royal Bengal where I ate that night, and The Highland Weigh, just across the road, a lovely conscious cafe where I spend a few hours alongside the fire, drinking tea and eating a tasty healthy soup, made fresh peanut butter and bought organic nuts for my travels. The Waverley was good value for money, easy to find, easy to access and a hotel I will return to if I go back to Nairn in the future. Thank you

Terrible visit

Upon arrival at the evening of the booking, I was told there were no rooms remaining (this is despite having booked and paid in advance). I showed my booking confirmation and my passport to the lady at check-in, to which she responded "oh I recall seeing this but we have no rooms available so you'll have to go somewhere else." Given that we arrived in the evening, all other hotels in the town were fully booked...

2/10 Poor

There was no hot water, mattresses were old and uncomfortable, windows rattled all night. Mentioned that their was no hot water and was told to wait till 0630 in the morning. Really don't think you should have to wait for hot water, we waited and still none. The staff didn't want to acknowledge that their could have been an issue. Just made a comment that was insulting to Aussies.

10/10 Exceptional

Excellent value for the money spent.

When we arrived, the place looked empty and it wasnt obvious who to contact, until i heard a TV in a room left of reception and was then able to check-in. Upon checking out it wasn't obvious where to go for breakfast and couldn't see anyone - thankfully a lady came out to tell us to pop over to the dining room (which is down the corridor on the right side (past the bar). It was a full Scottish breakfast, which was excellent. I think a little kiosk at the front reception - where you can message the person working on the day, would be useful , so atleast guests know someone is aware you are on-site. Negatives - Small TV in room - Dirty kettle in room - Weak showers
