Amazing location

Location is amazing - best in Lynton/Lynmouth as it’s right by the sea. The room was very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

The location is perfect and as my husband is partially disabled, the car parking is really important. We love the views, and sounds of the river and sea.

Excellent location

Arrived a little early and room wasn't ready, so sat outside and had a drink and food. Staff were friendly and room was adequate. Excellent location

Long weekend break, Lynemouth.

Excellent break, on our first stay. Manager very attentive and service oriented. Top location and would recommend for a short stay. Food very reasonably priced with a good menu. Some of the reviews moan about the restaurant being closed on a Monday/Tuesday, but full dining facilities available at their sister hotel, The Rising Sun a mere 100yds away, so not a problem. Good beer garden by the sea.

Brilliant view from room. Left to do your own thing. Room was refreshed while we were out. Offered meals in evening.

The dining area was fabulous and the location stunning however the single room was cramped and the bed uncomfortable, decor in the room needs urgent updating .

8/10 Very good

The room was well equipped and very clean. The Hotel was not fully open for the season and Breakfast was provided by the ‘Rising Sun’ ( sister inn). Which we were unaware of prior to arrival.

Great food and service, beds not so great.

The food was excellent. Some of the best we've ever had. The staff are really nice too. The room was pleasant and quite spacious and although it was clean i did notice some food crumbs on the floor and we had not eaten in the room. My only criticism is the bed. You could feel the mattress springs. I would recommend that the owners invest in some mattress toppers to improve comfort.

Lovely hotel: great views

Lovely room, though I found the pillows a little too soft. Excellent views. Full English Breakfast felt a little rationed (but given the financial situation I wasn’t surprised). Fresh fruit looked a little sad. I felt it might have been nice to have some fruit salad perhaps. However all these things are personal choices and given everything I would stay here again.

A lovely hotel for a short stay

The Hotel is not an easy choice for older people. The is no lift, and the stairs are steep and uneven - handrails at the turn of the stairs would be an improvement. There were no towel rails in the bathroom, which meant the towels had to be put on the floor. But we had a lovely stay and the Hotel has a unique position and a super garden.

Disappointing

Very tired, dated room. ALL furniture and decor had scratches and peeling paint. Having to go to another hotel to check in/out and have breakfast was not ideal. Will not be returning.
Debbie, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

We found the staff very nice especially the guy that served our breakfast and barmaid. Reception tried to help with tv but not a lot of choice of channels to watch probably because of awful weather and where the hotel was situated. Bed was really huge and comfy but decor needed up dating. Carpet in room and reception area really grubby. Sink and loo in our room was fine but shower was filthy especially the lower grouting and shower door. Glad we were only staying 1 night as wouldn't want to use it. The meal we ate in the evening was fine although it wasn't until l had eaten mine and looked at menu l realised l hadn't had the gluten free fish and chips the menu looked as though it was but a small box in corner said on request. Cooked breakfast was lovely although no gluten free cereal option also no oatmilk or decaf tea.

Lovely bedroom and shower room, recently refurbished. We were checked in by a nice chap, told us breakfast times and showed us the breakfast room. Had a table booked for an evening meal, we were greeted by a very unhappy waitress. “You booked ? “ we agreed that we had, “that’s your table then” pointing across the room. Her customer service skills were nonexistent, not even a smile! She certainly needs some training. Breakfast on the first morning as okay, nothing special on the buffet table. We were not offered any conserves for our toast, but not a deal breaker. Breakfast second morning, arrived at the breakfast room to the door looked and reception in darkness, no one in the kitchen, it was like the Marie Celeste! Just before 9 o’clock we discovered from the maintenance man that breakfast was served over the road at the sister hotel! We had not been informed on check in or at breakfast the first morning. It would have been helpful if a notice had been placed on the breakfast room door even. We went without breakfast.

Cute waterfront hotel in Lynmouth

Super cute location on the water in Lynmouth. Room #2 is so charming and has an en suite bathroom. The food was in transition but is offered from 12-6pm and breakfast is a short walk over at the Rising Sun hotel. Recommend!

Really enjoyed our stay in the Rock House. Checked in at the sister hotel The Rising Sun just over the bridge. Perfect location wise to explore Lynemouth, lovely sea view, bar with beer garden, clean room and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend

Cracking place to stay

Couple with a dog decided to stay somewhere with great dog walks on the doorstep. This was it. Lovely time.
Adam, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Bit disappointed. bedroom was of a good size and clean. no reception service or restaurant - which was advised prior to the trip, but trying to contact the Rising Sun who took over those services was really bad. never answered the phone and didn't answer my text message. Parking was not great due to a large van taking one space but blocking at least two other bays (only approx. 6 parking bays) - unfortunate i know, but after a long journey - wasn't appreciated. the obviously the "inconvenience" of having to go to the rising sun for the keys/checkin just not too impressed sorry - do realise there were issues behind the scene and was prepared to accept but we went there 38yrs ago on our honeymoon and we were going back to re-live that wonderful time so felt on that basis a little let down. sorry

We came during winter and had the place all to ourselves. The hotel facilities were closed and we had to check in and have breakfast at the hotel across the road. However it was totally worth it. The room was beautifully decorated with views from every window. Heating was fantastic, firm mattress, brand new renovated bathroom, and the best cookies. The town is across a small bridge and was so picturesque.

Disappointed

Unfortunately we started our stay by being informed that the hotel was only open for accommodation. We were then told all food would be available at a hotel across the road which was a concern as my wife suffers from parkinsons and her mobility is not good at periods throghout the day. If we had been informed of this prior to our stay we might have changed our plans. Added to this the cost of the eveving meal was above expectations.
