Concubine Lane- Stop by at the Concubine Lane for a refreshing treat after a long walk. The lane transformed from a district of prostitution, opium and gambling dens to residentials of rich officer's mistresses and now, a tourist hotspot. Here you will find an interesting mix of Ipoh's best eateries and local snacks among souvenir stalls and hipster cafes built in preserved heritage exteriors.

 

Sam Poh Tong - Perak is famed for scenic limestone hills and majestic temple caves dedicated to worship Buddhist and Taoist deities. The Sam Poh Tong is deemed to be the biggest cave temple in Malaysia and houses an exterior Japanese garden where tourists can feed carps and tortoises from the pond symbolising longevity and a wishing well for good fortune. No less interesting is the Perak Tong Cave Temple where its cave walls reveal colourful paintings of Buddhist deities and mythical creatures and an inbuilt staircase leading to a high garden for a breathtaking views of the valley.

 

Tempurung Cave - Conquer an adventurous caving at the Tempurung Cave where you will be expected to descend metres into slippery slopes, stoop below low cave ceilings, swim across refreshing waterfall water in darkness. Or, you may even spice up your game for a thrilling white water rafting experience at the Kampar River where certificates of completion will be rewarded to mark this momentous journey.

 

What to eat in Ipoh

The Ipoh old town and new town hosts a great selection of traditional eateries. Ipoh's must-try specialties includes the famous Ipoh chicken rice (steam chicken with juicy beansprout), shredded chicken hor fun (flat noodle in clear soup) and beggar's chicken (salted chicken baked in charcoal bed). Not forgetting locals' breakfast choice of sweet kaya toast paired with aromatic creamy white coffee. The oldest Hainanese coffee in Ipoh old town could be found in the legendary Sin Yoon Loong cafe.
