Find out more about Lisboa Casino

Lisboa Casino Hotels

Macau’s reputation as the ‘Las Vegas of Asia’ all began with the Lisboa Casino. Built in the late 1960s, the neon-gilded venue still operates today, curating all the ritz and glitz of yesteryear’s gambling. Offering 190,000 square feet of gaming space spread over 3 floors; it features over 100 whirring slot machines, almost 150 table games, and a collection of antiques owned by gambling tycoon Stanley Ho. For those that like old-fashioned glamour, it makes a nice alternative to the city’s newer haunts.

Things to see

Just next door to the Lisboa Casino, you’ll find its more modern sibling the Grand Lisboa. Housed within a glowing bubble-like exterior, beneath the hotel’s flame-like tower, it’s one of the city’s most popular gaming hubs. Alongside 800-plus slot machines, its four ritzy floors offer over 230 gaming tables, where gamblers can try their hand at everything from baccarat and roulette, to blackjack and sic bo.

In Macau’s historic heart you’ll find the 17th century Ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Perched on a small hill, the remaining church façade features intricate carvings by Japanese Christians and local craftsman. One of the most iconic sites in the city is the futuristic Macau Tower. Towering at a total height of 1,108-feet, the gleaming structure is home to a revolving restaurant and an observation deck boasting panoramic views of the bustling cityscape. For the courageous few it also offers a bungee jump, which is among the highest commercialized jumps in the world.

Hotels in Lisboa Casino

If you’re not staying in the Lisboa itself, there’s plenty more hotels near Lisboa Casino to choose from. Here you’ll find everything from simple and affordable full-service establishments, to huge 5-star casino hotels twinkling with chandeliers. L'Arc Macau is one of them. If you opt for the latter you’ll hit the jackpot when it comes to amenities, with everything from on-site bars and restaurants, to nightclubs and outdoor pools. If you need to work or workout, some hotels near Lisboa Casino provide business and fitness centres too. Rooms generally become fancier the more you pay, but most offer air-con, WiFi, and flat-screen televisions.

Where to stay

A hotel near the Lisboa Casino places you in Macau’s beating heart, a neon-soaked hedonist haven packed with glowing casinos and buzzing nightspots. There’s plenty more to enjoy besides just gambling however. The city’s rich Chinese and Portuguese cultural heritage has created a fascinating historic centre, where European-style architecture and small temples contrast against the city’s modern towers. The centrepiece of it all is Senado Square, with its trickling fountain, elegant buildings, and traditional wave-style paving. Bustling with tourists and locals alike, it’s home to glossy fashion stores, restaurants, and cafés – giving it a very relaxed Portuguese feel.

How to get to Lisboa Casino

If you’re planning to fly in, Macau International Airport makes an ideal gateway. Situated on the east side of Taipa Island, just over the water from Macau, it serves many major Asian airports, including Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Singapore Changi. Once you’ve landed you can get to your hotel near Lisboa Casino via taxi, or the AP1 bus, which departs from the airport and makes a stop at the Macau Ferry Terminal. From there you can change to other services, or catch one of the casino/hotel shuttles that operates in the area. The Ferry Terminal is also a port of call for those landing at Hong Kong International Airport, and hopping over the water via ferry.
