Find out more about Tokyo Dome

Tokyo Dome Hotels

The gleaming-white, egg-shaped Tokyo Dome is a state-of-the-art, 55,000 seat stadium, and the home of the Yomiuri Giants, one of Japan’s top baseball teams. It’s also one of Asia’s leading concert venues, having over the years played host to legendary acts such as the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, and Paul McCartney. The stadium is one of the most striking landmarks in the Bunkyō ward, a leafy district in which you’ll also find the ultra-prestigious University of Tokyo.

Things to see

There are plenty of compelling reasons to take a trip to Tokyo Dome. If you’ve even a passing interest in baseball, the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is an absolute must. It’s packed with memorabilia and moving tributes to legendary players, and English-language information is readily available. Kids, pop culture geeks, and Japanophiles alike will simply adore the Hero Action Show. Taking place every weekend, this frenetically-paced, outlandishly colourful live show charts the exploits of the much-loved Super Sentai warriors, best known internationally as the inspiration for the Power Rangers franchise.

The dome is surrounded by the myriad delights of Tokyo Dome City Attractions, one of the city’s top amusement parks. Highlights include the nerve-shredding Thunder Dolphin rollercoaster, which soars to heights of 80 metres over the roof of the La Qua shopping mall, and plunges straight through the centre of the Big-O Ferris wheel.

Hotels in Tokyo Dome

There’s an overwhelming selection of hotels near Tokyo Dome to choose from, with an abundance of options to suit every price range. You’ll find some of Tokyo’s most spectacular 4 to 5 star hotels here such as Hotel Niwa Tokyo, which boast lavish facilities like elegant cocktail lounges, luxurious spa treatment rooms, and destination gourmet restaurants, plus decadent in-room features such as deep-soaking bath tubs, cosy robes and slippers, premium bedding, and fully stocked minibars. If you’d rather save some cash for sight-seeing and shopping, there are also plenty of mid-range options such as Tokyu Stay Suidobashi, where you can expect home comforts like free WiFi, a flat-screen TV, and an irresistible hotel buffet each morning.

Where to stay

Bunkyō is a lovely base from which to explore Tokyo. With 6 subway lines running through the district, getting around the city is a breeze. And while it’s within easy reach of the glitz and glamour of Ginza, and the sensory overload of Akihabara, it boasts an altogether more laid-back vibe, and is blessed with acres of lush parks and beautifully landscaped gardens. Eating out options are as diverse and thrilling as you’d expect from a global metropolis. You can spend your trip feasting on everything from hand-rolled soba noodles served with tempura-fried scallops, to juicy hamburgers smothered with melted cheese and sizzling bacon.

How to get to Tokyo Dome

Most international travellers will arrive in Tokyo via either Haneda Airport or Narita International Airport. From Haneda, there are multiple train routes to Tokyo Dome, each of which will take around an hour. To avoid multiple line changes, take the Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho station, then the Oedo line from nearby Daimon station to Kasuga station. An Airport Limousine Bus will also take about an hour, while a taxi might take anywhere between 25 and 65 minutes, depending on traffic. From Narita, travelling by taxi or train will take 60–90 minutes. If you opt for the latter, the most straightforward option is to take the Narita Express to Tokyo station, then hop on the Marunouchi line to Korakuen station.
