Seminyak Vacation

Seminyak Hotels

Sitting on a long stretch of sandy coast, overlooking the sparkling Indian Ocean, Seminyak is dedicated to relaxation, pampering, and spoiling yourself. From designer malls, to white sandy beaches, and scuba diving schools, there's plenty to enjoy during the sunny days. At night, the beaches are lit with lanterns, and you can sit on the sand and enjoy a relaxed drink, or head to one of the giant, neon-lit nightclubs where the well-heeled come to party.

Things to see

Double Six Beach is one of Seminyak's largest beaches, and has soft, golden sands which meet the warm, clear blue seas. It can get quite busy, so head down early and rent an umbrella or sun lounger to stake your spot, or find one of the surf shacks and sign up for lessons, with beginners easily taking to the gentle waves. Along the beach you'll find a large number of international food stores selling snacks and cold drinks, and at night the beachfront bars light up, with revellers spilling out onto the sands. TAKSU Bali Gallery shows a more cultured side to the area, and this bright, contemporary gallery is full of colourful and thought provoking art work. With a cool, white interior, stepping into this gallery from the busy streets feels like walking into an oasis of calm, where you can simply wander around and see some of the spectacular art that the island has inspired.

Where to stay

Seminyak is a relatively small area, with narrow, winding streets lined by palm trees. Outside of the main resorts, it's fairly rustic and traditional, with cool white buildings, and locals zipping around on mopeds. There are lots of small souvenir shops selling handmade items, bars with plastic chairs outside, and stalls selling Indonesian street food fresh from the barbecue grill. Along the coast, and close to the luxury hotels in Seminyak, you'll find more upmarket dining, with restaurants featuring large outdoor terraces overlooking the sea. At night, the town's stylish nightclubs open their doors, with busy dance floors, and the party often spilling out onto the beach.
