Hotels in Bintan Near the Beach

A major attraction on Bintan Island is the sheer number of spectacular beaches, with white sands, clear seas full of colourful coral, and dense areas of lush green palm trees. There are many hotels in Bintan near the beach, with many resorts having their own private stretches of sand where you can simply lie back in a cabana, sipping a cocktail. With luxurious resorts in the north of the island, and rocky, unspoilt beaches in the east, you'll find spectacular coastline across Bintan.

Things to see

White Sands Island is just off the east of Bintan, with small fishing boats that take you across to this undeveloped island. If you've ever dreamed of staying on an island paradise, then this is as close as you can get with just a private beach, a small area of woodland, and a rustic wooden pier. Lie on the powdery white sands, snorkel or scuba dive off the untouched coast, enjoy barbecued meats served straight from the grill, or book a camping spot overnight so you can watch the sun go down over the ocean. Trikora Beach in the east of Bintan is rocky and rugged, but still has long stretches of white sand. It's an area where fishing is still a major source of income, and you'll often see rustic wooden boats bringing in their nets, as well as traditional kelongs, or wooden fishing huts, on stilts over the water.

Hotels in Bintan

Bintan is known for luxury, and there are many large resorts with everything you need for a relaxing break. If you're looking for hotels in Bintan near the beach, for example Angsana Bintan, then you'll find 5 star hotels with facilities such as free WiFi, outdoor pools, childcare, a choice of restaurants, free breakfasts, spas, and fitness centres. Stay in a larger resort close to the beach and you'll often have a choice of rooms, suites, or villas, many of them with sea views and private terraces so you can soak up some sunshine. You'll enjoy amenities such as deep soaking bathtubs, premium bedding, air conditioning, and bathrobes, with accommodation that's designed for a relaxing stay.

Where to stay

The north of Bintan, close to Lagoi, is the most touristy area of the island. You'll find many large, 5 star hotels on their own private beaches, and can book a cabana or hire a sunbed and simply lie back and enjoy the sunny weather. Along the white, sandy beaches you'll find a handful of restaurants and bars, but most of the action is confined to the modern hotels. Teluk Bakaru in the east of the island is more rustic and traditional, with lots of white sandy beaches that have barely any tourists. You can snorkel or scuba dive in the quiet, clear waters, or simply watch the fishing boats coming in with their catch.

How to get to Bintan

Those who are staying in the north of the island will find Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal a convenient arrival point. Ferries dock here from Singapore, just 1 hour 45 minutes away, and Johor Bahru in Malaysia just a 3 hour crossing. The terminal has a large number of taxis, and it's a sort, inexpensive journey to most of the resorts on the north coast. In the south of the island is the small Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport. It only offers regional flights to Jakarta and the surrounding islands, but is a quick way to get around. There's a limited amount of public transport, which can be difficult to negotiate if you don't speak Indonesian, but again there are plenty of taxis which are fairly cheap.
