Cavill Avenue in downtown Surfers Paradise is the suburb's social hub, and draws a youthful crowd every night of the week. Evenings in Surfers Paradise are often hot and sticky, so a couple of hours in an air-conditioned theatre or cinema can be welcome relief - especially if you have children with you. There are several multiplex cinemas in the vicinity, and all of them screen films for families. Live performance is also an option, but be sure to book ahead, as many theatre productions sell out well in advance.

Kids will love this cinema-ride hybrid that features moving seats, 3D glasses, and 7 different “special effects,” including mist. It's open late every night and no bookings are required - but don't attempt it on a full stomach.
