Things to see

Xinyi boasts the city’s most iconic site, the Taipei 101 building. Known for its bamboo-inspired pagoda-like design, the gleaming turquoise tower dominates the city’s skyline, at a heart-palpitating height of 509 metres. Whilst primarily used for offices, it features two observation areas, offering far-reaching views of the cityscape. Attached to the skyscraper is the Taipei 101 Mall, where you’ll find 5 glossy floors of flawless retail therapy. Home to brand name stores and lux label boutiques, the epic shopping centre also features a cornucopia of stylish restaurants. With its yellow flared roof and sprawling grounds, Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall certainly stands out from much of Xinyi’s architecture. Paying homage to the Republic of China’s founding father, it displays exhibitions on Sun’s life and his famous revolution. From fashion events to contemporary art exhibitions, Songshan Cultural Park is a thriving hive of local creativity. Centred on an old tobacco factory, the artsy nerve centre is also home to the Taiwan Design Museum.
